This year’s theme, “CONNECT!”, is inspired by the fast paced rate of change and innovation underway in the world and the ways we connect to the people and places and the things in it.
The world has certainly changed with technology advancements in the past decade. Information at our fingertips in seconds, robotics and AI that we put in our homes that can answer our questions and perform tasks have become the new normal. How has the current state of the world and the technology used changed the way we all connect with people? With places? With the world?
How has connection solved some of our community problems or brought us back to reconnecting to things in innovative ways? Has it hurt society or created new problems? Should we go back to basics on some things?
Hear ideas and perspectives expressed by 14 speakers from all walks of life and various expertise inspire and engage our audience to think differently about connection at our annual event this October 12, 2018.
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxSpringfield, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxSpringfield event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
